Steven Savage died at a flat in Halley Place, Yoker, Glasgow on 16-17 September 2019.
A 59-year-old man was due to be tried for his murder in 2020 but nothing more is known.
He was said to have attacked him with a weight and to have struck him on the body with a knife. However, he denied the allegation.
The police were called to the flat in Halley Place on Tuesday 17 September 2019 at about 5pm but Steven Savage was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police said that they were trying to trace Steven Savage's last known movements and appealed for anyone that had been in the Yoker and Knightswood area between Sunday 15 September and Tuesday 17 September to come forward.
